Puerto Rican Hector Soto selected as MVP
MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico, July 29, 2010 – Hector Soto of Puerto
Rico was elected the Most Valuable Player of the men’s
volleyball tournament at the XXI Central American and Caribbean
Games won by his team with a five-set triumph over Venezuela on
Thursday night.
“The MVP is a great honor but I don’t play alone so the trophy
also belongs to my teammates and my coach Carlos Cardona,” Soto
said.
“I was not in my best shape at the start of the tournament so I
had my doubts but my teammates trusted me so I am very thankful
to all of them,” he added.
Puerto Rican Victor Rivera was selected as Best Spiker while
Venezuelan Ivan Marquez and Mexican Tomas Aguilera were chosen
Best Server and Best Blocker respectively.
Trinidadians Nolan Tash and Ryan Mahadeo were the Best Scorer
and Best Libero and Mexican Pedro Rangel received the trophy as
Best Setter.
Dominican Luis de la Cruz resulted in the Best Digger and
Venezuelan Joel Silva was selected as Best Receiver.
